If I want the time stamp above to be acurate, I have to type fast š Zeus is CONFIRMED!!! I paid the weigh billl this morning, I recieved the Bill of Lading that I will need to hand in when we drop him off at the Cargo location in Toronto before our flight to Portugal āļø. If you are an avid reader of my blog, you know how much relief I am feeling right now š„°.
Not sure if I mentioned that Kevin is taking a motorcycle to Pico... after selling the Mercedes (which he reminds me often, was entirely my idea); he made an exceutive decision that he wanted a motorcycle there. My uncle told him that there are plenty of these things called 'motorcycles' on the island but Kevin could not be convinced to leave this particular one behind. He had to build a container out of pressure treated wood that needs to be on a pallet that could be lifted/loaded by a forklift. I didn't ask how much the container cost in material because I truly do not want to know. We rented a 10ft Uhaul truck for 9 hours so we can bring this package from Cambridge and Toronto where it will be shipped by oceanliner āļø to Pico, arriving sometime in late November/early December. The cost to have the Bike shipped is $1200 (the cost to have Zeus shipped by air, was $1100 - just sayin' š).
I had a minor freak out this morning because we haven't made any arrangements on transporation for US (šš½āāļø+šš½āāļø+š¶+š§³). So I rented ANOTHER 10ft Uhaul for our flight date, September 7th. At this point, I am regretting not starting a Uhaul rental location š You know how some people get a job at their favourite store so they could have the employee discount; that's how I feel about Uhaul. I tried finding just a cargo van or large pick-up truck which would have had more than enough space for Zeus' crate, Zeus himself, the two of us and our (4) large pieces of luggage BUT the cargo vans and even the pick-up trucks CAN NOT be returned to a different location so the 10ft truck is our smallest and only option.
I was able to shut down some accounts today, now that we have been in Canada for a full month, I recieved the last of my credit card statements in the US and I have looked after all the transferring of continued services to the canadian side. All except for ONE ACCOUNT. Back when we were watching the soccer games (I can't remember if it was the Euro Cup or the World Cup), we looked up streaming providers and found the cheapest one being Peacock. It was $4.99/month. I signed up and we enjoyed the platform for awhile. Since being in Canada, I cannot log on, the screen says I am outside of the location service area. I tried calling the company but they say I can only make changes and cancel the service by going online š¤Ø. I thought I would get ahead of this problem and just cancel the credit card that the fee comes out ofš”. I tried doing that today and the Visa rep said, 'it doesn't work that way', automated payments could still be charged even after the card is cancelled 'it is the responsibility of the card holder to cancel all preauthorized transactions' š”. I was pretty cheesed and I asked the woman on the phone if that meant that I have to drive across the US/Canada border just to log on to the Peacock app and cancel the streaming channel. The moment I made that ridiculous suggestion, I realized that I could just ask a friend in the states to sign in and cancel it for me š. That's the plan now, just waiting for my friend to get back to me LOL.
Not much else to do before the big day. I hate having to be patient, especially since I am feeling anxious and excited to get to the island and start this next chapter. I need to remind myself that these last few days are for our family, soak up the time I have left with my dad and our son. This post took me a lot longer than I thought - originally the title was 168 Hours and 14 Minutes - not anymore!

So glad to hear you secured a flight for Zeus. I've been praying! The time is ticking by and before you know it, you'll be in Pico. Wishing you a smooth 168 (or however many hours it is). You deserve itš„°š
