Zeus 🤬

We picked up Zeus, our Bernese Mountain Dog, from the kennel on Saturday July 4th. We had only planned to be away for 1 week but with the Canadian mandatory quarantine of 14 days, we had to stay for 2 weeks. The kennel was very kind and said they would mix some of their food with his food to cover me for the extra week. Something must have happened to his mind; I think our absence affected Zeus' mental health. Every night, for the last week, he has been whining, crying, barking and pacing back and forth. For years, Zeus has always had a bathroom break around 9pm and then he is good until morning. He would sleep through the night with no problem, unless there was a thunderstorm. There have been two nights with thunderstorms, so we didn't notice the change in his behavior right away. Last night, there was no storm and he started his annoying song and dance again 😳.

Those of you who know me personally, know that Kevin and I have never raised a child from newborn. The handful of times that we babysat children under the age of one, left us terrified and sleep deprived; trying to listen for their breathing every few minutes. Parents with babies need much more credit for their ability to function on a daily basis. Our fur-baby has left me cranky and on edge so last night, I pulled Zeus onto our queen size bed, told him to 'lay down, go to sleep and don't touch me' (I was very angry). During the restless sleep, where I could not stretch out my legs, I had a glorious dream about buying a king sized bed. Kevin and I love to snuggle and we could sleep in a smaller bed with zero complaint, so if we ever did get a king sized bed, it would be for Zeus to occupy one side and us on the other (my vote would be Kevin in the middle😁). Typing this post is proof positive of how tired I am, bringing my ridiculousness to light. I don't want to spend money on something I don't need, for the sake of the dog, for which I believe he is just readjusting to his old routine BUT hasty decisions will be made if proper sleep is not attained.

It's too bad Rooms To-Go closed at 8pm, they could have had a sale: one king sized bed, emergency delivery, life or death situation. How much extra would it be to take the old mattress and the dog too?

He's laughing at us.... I know it ☝🏽
