Bogeyman

What is our grasp on reality? Do we believe everything we hear or see? Is it possible that everyone is telling the truth just their variation? Does that make it any less true?
I watched a video the other day of a woman who believes the Corona Virus is real BUT that it is also fake, like the Bogeyman (her words, not mine). I also watched my neighbor yell and scream for over an hour about the two men who were peeping in his daughters second floor window after she took a shower. I have no proof that the woman's video is true or an outright lie. As for the neighbor, he is either hallucinating or we have predators in our condo community.
I understand, now more than ever, why we refer to it as 'my truth'. The interpretation of events is directly related to the observer or the one experiencing the act. For example, the guy on the bicycle today who assumed Kevin was mistreating Zeus while trying to get Zeus out of the way so the cyclist can pass. This guy decides to add rude commentary regarding Kevin's actions. The cyclist had been going very quick on the trail where people walking, as well as riding, are supposed to share the space. We were with Jon and Erika who had their dog and the baby. The cyclist didn't seem to care about the safety of our group and while Kevin was trying to be courteous and get Zeus out of HIS way, he still felt the need to make snark remarks. Now, if the guy on the bike was telling this story he would emphasizes the fact that he saw a guy (Kevin) try to move a dog off of a bike trail and when the dog didn't listen, the guy pulled harder on the leash. In the bicyclist's story Kevin is the bad guy, not knowing Kevin or the intention that he was just trying to give the bike room AND trying to protect our dog from getting run over/hurt.
My old boss/mentor/mother-figure (Kim) always says “there are two sides to every story, and then there's the truth”. I strive everyday to see all angles. Every person has a story, dealing with their own emotions and carrying their memories. We all deserve to be heard and the world could use more compassion. Reality is fluid because we don't all perceive events the same way. My truth should be different from yours because my life is unlike any other. All we can ask for from one another is understanding. If we put the shoe on the other foot we can help each other walk the path of life, possibly save our feet from a few calluses too.
