Guilty Pleasure

There was a time when boy bands, like Backstreet Boys and N'SYNC, were considered my guilty pleasures. I moved up in music taste and I grew up (a little bit). Young and the Restless was a guilty pleasure too, which somehow went from bad to worse because I moved on to Passions (the soap opera with a witch and magic). If I was asked today, what I consider to be my guilty pleasure, the answer would be: mindless reality TV. I used to LOVE watching documentaries and I still do, but when I have the choice between educational/informative or sleazy/raunchy, I lean towards the bad side. Shows like ‘The Circle’ or ‘Too Hot Too Handle’ are fun and stupid. ‘Love is Blind‘ or ‘Married at First Sight‘, give me plenty of reasons to be grateful for my marriage. Most recently, I have been cleaning up my TV watch list and started some old favorites. The TLC show 'Hoarding: Buried Alive' and the Canadian budgeting show 'Til Debt Do Us Part', are now on Prime Video for free! I am obsessed, and since I cannot watch anything out of order, it takes a long time for me to finish 8 or 9 seasons. When I get too antsy or anxious with the hoarding show, I switch to the money show. I am an empathetic person so I can see how or why people do things and sometimes I get emotional because I can see myself in their shoes. I feel for these people and at the same time, I get a rush of gratitude for the decisions I have made that have brought me to this place in my life. My path could have just as easily become self-destructive if I had fallen under the weight of my childhood or continued my poor money habits. If I ever had my own reality show, I would cast someone else to play me 😂 and I would definitely have a narrator, maybe Morgan Freeman because he has a great voice (smooth like silk). The show would be about an erratic 'young' woman who flies by the seat of her pants with every choice she makes. Not sure about a title yet. I'm also not sure who my audience would be but I didn't think anyone would want to read my blog either and here we are! 😘
