Love Thy Neighbor

The pinch we all feel from the Travel Ban is now more of a closed-fist punch to the throat. Travelling, seeing the world and experiencing different cultures is exciting and invigorating. The lack of travel and exploration, for this amount of time, is like a dimly-lit candle at the end of a dark windy tunnel. It's unknown and more uncertain than ever; when we will be able to hop on a plane and visit our favorite places or look for new adventures or meet new people. For this reason specifically, I am challenging each and every reader to get to know their neighbor. If you know the people next door or across the street, then expand the search to a familiar face at the dog park or the lady who cuts the grass with scissors or the young dad that rides a skateboard to the mailbox. We all have something that binds us together; we are all living through a pandemic. If you want a good conversation started, try "How are you holding up with all of this?" I'll bet dollars to donuts that you won't need to explain what "this" stands for. Keep with social distancing, of course, but put yourself out there, empathize and broaden your horizons by sharing your story and getting to know those around you.
I am encouraging this idea because I made a new friend at the pool this weekend. His name is Dakota, he is a neighbor in the condo complex that we live in. We had him over to our place for a cold drink and a cupcake (Coccadotts - best cupcake place in Myrtle Beach). Conversation was easy, we told him that we are from Canada, he told us he is from Virginia. We all spoke highly of our families and we talked about some of the struggles that have come from dealing with COVID-19 and our jobs. The poor guy left with itchy eyes and a stuffy nose because he is allergic to dogs, but that didn't stop Zeus from lovin' up on him 😂. 'The Circle' of people we know in Myrtle Beach is more friendly and interesting with you in it, Dakota Hughes💕
P.S. - we got that bathroom vanity from Home Depot 😉
