Simple And Satisfying

Updated: May 21, 2020

When I woke up this morning, I couldn't put my finger on why I was feeling so empty. It was almost as if I was bitter. I was thinking a lot about last Mother’s Day, when I spent an entire weekend at a beach house with close friends and family. This year was so different and it was the first Mother’s Day that I was separated from my only child. As the day progressed, I shook off the funk. It took a few select items and kind acts to put a smile back on my face. I know now, what my simple pleasures are:

  • Starbucks Caramel Ribbon Crunch or Salted Caramel Latte (either one works as long as it’s a hot drink)

  • 1st text message of the day being from my son 🖤

  • Fake press on nails (especially now that they come with brush on glue!)

  • A great smelling candle (the best one's smell like a sexy man)

  • My husband vacuuming the house (much sexier than the candle)

  • Listening to my Playlist on Random (even if Christmas music presents itself and its only the month of May)

  • Not having to cook a single meal ALL DAY LONG

  • Season 16 of Grey's Anatomy (enough said)

  • Going to Marshwalk, anytime of day, with friends who have become family

  • Sitting with my husband, anywhere, anytime, enjoying each other’s company🤍

By the end of the day and into the evening, I felt joy and gratitude. Everyday doesn't start like today but if every night ends with the knowledge that my loved ones are safe and healthy than why ask for more?
