Something to talk about

All these opinions about the Coronavirus and the flu are valid opinions but something has to be said about the people acting like it's no big deal. I'm not spouting fear here. You do what you feel is best for you and your family, I will do the same. We complain about the media and the hype but the alternative to having too much information is having none at all. I would much rather have all the news even if it is one sided, leaning more towards fear and panic.

Here's a real life scenario for you. I started getting a sore throat last week Monday. By Wednesday of that same week I was freaking out because a cough started and I was nauseous. So I went to the Minute Clinic at the local pharmacy. Immediately I saw the posters saying they are sold out of all hand sanitizer. When I sat down with the doctor (25 minute wait - not too shabby) she was wearing gloves and a mask. She stayed at arms reach as best as possible and I do not fault her for this. The Flu test is WORSE than the Flu shot - if you've ever had that long cotton swab stick stuffed up your nostril and scraped against the back of your brain than I'm sure you'd agree with me. The test was negative - I do not have the flu. I do, however, have allergies so I am on allergy medication now in the hopes of getting my days back to normal.

I was scared that it could be the Coronavirus even though I have not traveled to Europe/Asia or been around anyone who has traveled or is feeling sick. This fear is not rational but it is very hard to ignore. I can only speak for myself and myself says 'this sucks'. Our flight to go to San Diego for a conference on Gym Equipment, my best friend Tracy and her family visiting us at the end of March, the Easter visit for our son Josh to come see us, all these plans and its all gone down the drain - possibly the money spent too. My next task to tackle is the cancellation policies and airlines. I pray that my Aunt's trip from Portugal to Canada is moving forward in June but there is no guarantee. I have planned 2 family reunions and a surprise for our son during our Canada summer trip. I hope to pull myself out of this negative spiral and focus on the positive. I have my health and I have my family - there are far too many people who aren't able to say the same (with or without the Coronavirus).
